COMPANY HISTORY & FACTS

Our Beginning

Founded in 1991, the business started as Eternal Monuments. The interest in opening a monument shop stemmed from previously working in a family owned funeral home. A few years later a prominent builder by the name of Norman VanHoek of VanMark Builders encouraged us to start fabricating stone tops locally. Mr. VanHoek explained the issues he had experienced with purchasing finished counter tops from out of town  (ie. poor delivery, quality, service, repair issues and availability). We agreed to give it a try.

As a testing point the first counter top ever fabricated in Sault Ste. Marie was for the owner himself, John Onofrio. It was a complete success, Mr. VanHoek was thrilled and we never looked back. Hence Granite and Stone Decor was born.
